SV-IPB Lecturers Facilitate the Development of Agro-Based Tourism Villages in Benteng Village

Synergy and collaboration between academics and village parties related to the development of tourism villages is important to do. This effort was carried out through the activities of lecturers serving the Research and Community Service Institute Program (LPPM) of IPB University. The presentation of the service lecturer program which took place at the Benteng Village Hall, Ciampea District, Bogor Regency on Thursday (30/9) received a positive response from the Benteng Village Head, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), tourism village administrators, PKK cadres, posyandu cadres. and several representatives of MSME owners in Benteng Village.

The head of the devoted lecturer team, Muh Faturokhman, S.Pt, M.Si explained that the village of fort as one of the villages included in the village around the Darmaga campus of IPB has great potential in developing tourist villages. with the development of agro-based tourism villages,” said the Agribusiness Management Study Program Lecturer at the College of Vocational Studies IPB University. In addition, it is hoped that it will open up job opportunities for young people who are members of the tourism village management and drive the village economy.

The activities that will be carried out in the service lecturer program start from identifying potentials and problems, mapping potentials and problems and developing the concept of a tourist village. In addition, agro-based tourism village management training, program realization and program evaluation will also be carried out.

Members of the lecturer team serve Dr. Budi Wahyu Priatna, M.Si added that for village development, first it is necessary to photograph the potential of the village so that paths and attractions can be mapped better. Second, BUMDes managers need to make more observations in village areas including seeing villages around Benteng Village which have succeeded in developing tourism activities so that routes that can be developed in Benteng Village will be opened for tourism. “Internal communication forums also need to be established so that they can bridge the activities of each village administrator and MSME owners leading to village programs which can then be mixed into a village profile,” explained the Head of the Communication Study Program for the College of Vocational Studies IPB University.

Meanwhile, the Head of Benteng Village H Faka Harika, S.Ap explained that Benteng Village has potential not only in nature but also in culture. Not only the potential of the area is large, Benteng Tourism Village has also formed a management organization related to tourist villages. “Hopefully after the pandemic conditions decrease, the budget for tourist villages can be allocated more so that it supports tourism activities that were hampered by the pandemic,” he said.

Members of the serving lecturer team, Hudi Santoso, S.Sos, M.Si, explained that tourist villages in other areas are still opening tourism activities with strict procedures during the pandemic. “Hopefully, with collaboration between parties and enthusiasm in realizing the future, tourist villages in Benteng Village can run,” said the Comumunication Studies Lecturer of the College of Vocational Studies IPB University. Another member of the team of devoted lecturers, Dr. Rini Untari, S.Hut, M.Si said that as a tourist destination, Benteng Village has met the criteria because it already has something to see, various natural and cultural tourist attractions, something to do in the form of activities that can be designed from existing attractions and of course something to do. buy with the presence of hundreds of MSMEs to be able to provide souvenirs for visitors who come to tourist villages. “Hopefully a developing tourism village will empower many people and have an impact on various components, not only the economy but also the ecology and socio-culture of the community,” said the lecturer of the Ecotourism Study Program at the College of Vocational Studies IPB University.
